Our first whitewater kayak trip of the semester went out this past Saturday, March 21st. Six participants braved the cool water and enjoyed the sunny, cloudless day to paddle on the Haw River near Raleigh, NC.
We caught eddies, glided through rock gardens and paddled through the whitewater water to receive some gratefully cool splashes to face. Wetsuits can be hot!
You can find more trip photos here.

Mark your calendars! On March 28th and 29th the ECVelo Bike Club and the Bike Post are hosting the 5th Annual Criterium Bike Race. Criterium b
ike races are one of the more exciting bike races to watch and take part in. On a closed course through the streets of Uptown Greenville, riders race on a closed course several times at breakneck paces. Tight turns, pot holes, narrow roads, other racers and spectators make it a challenging course for the pros and amateurs to win.
Think IndyCar Racing on a bike and you have the idea of a “crit” race. Racing starts at 1pm on Saturday, the 28th, with the final race finishing at 7pm. On Sunday, the 29th, racing commences at 9am and finishes at 3pm.

What happens when your city sees a 35% increase in bike riders in one year? Confusion, frustration and poor manners in the case of NYC. While Greenville, NC. might not yet worry about these issues, it is worth remembering that regardless if we walk, drive, or bike, we need t0 treat each other with respect and care.
It is not a case of bikers vs. walkers vs. drivers. Remember to smile, wave, and follow the rules of the road regardless if you are walking, biking or driving. Greenville will soon see an increase in bike and pedestrian traffic, let’s not seen an increase in bad attitudes.
